Two years ago, Casey and I started what would become The Welcome (previous band name spoiler: The Forest At Night).  For those of you that subscribe to our mailing list, you may have already heard, but Casey will be leaving The Welcome at the beginning of June.

At the end of this summer, Casey will be moving to New Orleans as part of a big opportunity he has for his writing career.  We've already begun to make peace with this fact, but we're also happy we still have a chance to spend the summer with the C-Dog before his departure.

Our show at Reggie's tonight will be our last show with Casey on drums, after which Jonah will take over on percussion.  Even if you can't make it tonight, we hope you will all send some positive vibes Casey's way.  Here's to a fantastic bandmate, an undeniably talented musician, and a true friend!

We are proud to announce the release of our latest EP, Honey, Honey!

This EP is the result of our very hardest efforts, and we couldn't be happier to share it with you!
You can listen to and download the EP right here on our website.
It's also available on iTunes.
We also just got our hands on physical copies (see above picture), which you can buy at any of our upcoming shows.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Love,
The Welcome

Our newest EP, Honey Honey, has been mastered!  Bill Kavanagh at BobDog Studios did a really great job.
In a few weeks, we'll have hard copies.
Where can you buy said hard copies?  Well, our upcoming shows at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn and Cole's Bar in Chicago would be good bets.
How much?  5 clams, not a penny more!
Glory, glory, glory!

Yep.  We're all done recording!

We still need to come up with name for this EP.
We still need the EP mixed (and mastered).
We still need to press copies.

But we're all done recording!

It's an exciting evening.

Armed with excitement and a 5-avocado bowl of guacamole,
we headed back to CarterCo today to continue recording.  It was definitely a very productive day: all that guacamole got eaten and we wrapped up all the vocals for all 5 songs.

This Friday, we return.  Only overdubs remain.

Day 2 is done.

Yesterday was a very productive day, although it was pretty tiring.  The songs are really starting to come together.  We'll be back in the studio next week to finish up.

In the meantime, you can come catch us at Reggie's Rock Club this Saturday, 2/4 for their SXSW Showdown.  We're going to be playing a bunch of new material, including every song that will be on our new EP.  How's that for a sneak peek?

Speaking of peeking, below are some pictures from yesterday.

Day 1 of recording = complete.

After a hard day of recording, we are happy to report our next EP is well under way!  We spent an action-packed 11 hours at CarterCo, and we're excited to return tomorrow morning and continue.

For right now, though, we're just going to put our feet up and enjoy some Ali G Show.  Below are some pictures from the day.

3/4 of The Welcome begin to pack up stuff.
We're feeling good.

We just practiced, packed up Jonah's car in a way that could easily be described as "snuggly," and brought our stuff back to the Welcome Cave.

Later, in the car (with everything we own).
Tomorrow morning, we're gonna get up, make breakfast, and head over to CarterCo to start recording for our next EP.  Excitement is in the air.  Expect more pictures!

Well, hey.

We liked our old Tumblr, but we think you'll like this new website even more.  Why?  Well, there's an entire page devoted to our friend Douglas, for one (see below).  You may recognize that mug from the cover for Odds & Ends & Endings.

I's a beau'iful day to be a dawg.
But we're also feeling ready for a change.  Next week, we're heading to the studio to start recording our new EP.  We've been working very hard, and we're really excited about this next batch of songs.  A lot of new things are on the horizon for us, and we're feeling really good about 2012.

We'll be keeping you updated right here, on this nifty blog.  Isn't that cool?

Stay tuned!
